All on Four

Apr 08 2016

I first had the experience of restoring and replacing patient’s teeth years ago with implant supported fixed bridges when the procedure was called “Teeth in a Day.” In future years, the next procedure was called “Teeth in an Hour.” This lead our profession to finally arrive at the current status with a procedure called “All on Four.”
The term All-On-4 refers to “All” teeth being supported four or more dental implants. A prosthodontics procedure for total rehabilitation of the edentulous patient or for patients with failing dentition. This treatment, much like the previous versions, connects four to six implants per arch while being immediately loaded with a fixed screw-retained provisional prosthesis on the day of surgery. After healing for 3-4 months, a more definitive bridge is fabricated. It is a remarkable change for our patients.
