Preventing and Treating Tooth Sensitivity

Sep 17 2013

Tooth sensitivity can be caused by decay, cracked teeth, tooth grinding/clenching, exposed dentin, piercings, tobacco use, excessive tooth brushing, and trauma.

Tooth sensitivity can be treated with good oral hygiene/home care, regular recall visits to your dentist to remove plaque, bacteria and tartar, and restoring the damaged teeth.

Desensitizing toothpastes, lower-acidic mouthrinses, fluoride treatments, and tissue grafts to cover the exposed dentin can also assist in preventing tooth sensitivity.
