Replacement of Teeth Through Addition Therapy- Dental Implants

Jan 25 2012

What causes tooth loss?
The loss of teeth can happen many ways. The most common are due to: trauma, decay, periodontal disease, mechanical fractures (cracks and breaks), and hereditary.
These missing teeth can be replaced.
Dental implants are the the treatment of choice and the standard of care. Generally speaking, they are the most conservative treatment. Other options to replace teeth can be with a fixed bridge or removable prosthetics (denture or partial denture).
Dental implants replace the root of the tooth and give the tooth its foundation. After a period of healing, an abutment is connected to the implant and a crown is placed over the abutment. These three parts effectively replace lost or missing teeth.
